We scored our first coon of the year tonight. Alley went off in the woods for a few minutes and then I heard barking in the distance. I ran as best I could through the dark. The brush was very thick and it was slow going. When I got there she was going back and forth between 2 trees. She had two coons treed about 20 yards from each other.

I took a look at both of them and decided to take the bigger of the two and let the other have another chance. I only like to shoot enough to keep the dogs interested anyway. 1 shot with the .22 pistol knocked it out of the tree. It still had plenty of fight left to give alley a good workout.

I Went home to get the hook and went back up the hill with Willy to hold the light. We skinned it up on the spot.
